General requirements for access to higher education
The "Diplôme du Baccalauréat technologique" allows access to French higher education courses, especially in commercial and accounting fields, management and financial fields, but also in social fields and tourism. Specific admission requirements (entrance examinations; preparatory studies, followed by competitive entrance examinations may be requested by single HEIs).

Since 2013 there are 8 streams of the technical Baccalauréat:
STI2D - sciences et technologies de l’industrie et du développement durable (science and technology: industry and sustainable development) ; STL - sciences et technologies de laboratoire (laboratory science and technology) ; STD2A - sciences et technologies du design et des arts appliqués (science and technology, art and design) ; ST2S - sciences et technologies de la santé et du social (medico-social science and technology ; STMG - sciences et technologies du management et de la gestion (science and technology: management) ; STAV - sciences et technologies de l’agronomie et du vivant (agricultural science and technology) ; TMD - techniques de la musique et de la danse (music and dance) and STHR - sciences et technologies de l’hôtellerie (hotel and catering).
Grading system: 16-20 very good; 14-15.99 good; 12-13.99 quite good; 10-11.99 pass.
