Reforms in 2005 had extended secondary education from 3 years to 4 years at general and vocational high school, and 4 years at technical high schools.
Students who complete the secondary education are awarded with the Lise Diploması, which grants the access to take the university entrance examination.
Subject: this type of education has 6 subjects, such as Türkçe Matematik (turkish matemathics), fen bilimleri (natural science), sosyal bilimler (social science), yabancı dil (foreign language), sanat (art) ad spor (physical education).
Grading system: in September 2013 the grading system for upper secondary schol was changed from grading on both a 5-point and 100-point scale to just the 100-point scale. The new system gives an absolute grade out of 100 and the pass mark is 50.
Awarding period: 3 or 4 years.
